The word moon (Qamar), together with its derivatives, is used exactly 27 times in the Quran. This number is equal to the number that is the moon’s ecliptic cycle around the world. The Quran indicates that both the sun and the moon follow courses exactly computed (55 Gracious: 5). The sun’s and the moon’s definition in terms of mathematics is interesting and the word “moon” is mathematically coded in the Quran.
