If you ask people what comes to their mind when they hear the word “angel,” a majority of them will say “devil.” All derivatives of these two interrelated words (angel/devil) are used in the Quran 88 times each. It is interesting to note that the most frequent form of these two words, “al-shaytan” and “al-melaike,” are used 68 times each in the Quran. Two examples for these words:
The Devil is certainly your enemy... (35-The Originator: 6)
Thus, your Lord inspired the angels. (8-The Spoils of War: 12)
